Winter tips to make your home safer and more comfortable.
January 11, 2022
You can’t prevent cold weather from arriving, but you can take a preventive approach to making your home safer, more efficient, and more comfortable. Best of all, these solutions can be right at your fingertips!
With home automation, you can control and program your security system, lights, locks, thermostat and more from your couch – or anywhere else in the world. And when you work with us, setting it all up is easy. We match the smart home equipment to your needs and install it all for you.
Our partner Resideo has some tips to help you weather the worst of winter:
- Air: Keep your home at a constant temperature during cold weather. With home automation, you can control the thermostat from anywhere – right at your fingertips.
- Water: Check areas in your home that are susceptible to frozen pipes, such as those that are on exterior walls. You might consider adding a detector to let you know if a water leak has taken place because of pipes that have frozen and burst.
- Energy: Be mindful to only open exterior doors, such as a garage door, when necessary to conserve energy. Also, check out window coverings that can keep the cold out and the warmth in.
- Safety: Consider installing a carbon monoxide (CO) detector, and make sure it is checked out and working properly. When you run your home heating systems consistently for hours, the chances of CO poisoning also increase. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year in the U.S., more than 20,000 Americas visit the emergency room from unintentional CO poisoning.
From our family to yours, the more you know, the safer, more efficient and more comfortable your home will be.
We’d be happy to help set up a complimentary meeting to discuss smart home security system or train your family again on your current home automation options.
